IML at a Genocosmetics symposium
Dr. Almudena Royo, Aesthetic Medicine specialist at IML, attended the Genocosmetics course organized by Sesderma on 10 November 2014.
Genocosmetics studies the origin of ageing and the changes produced in the skin caused by age, such as flaccidity or pigmentation changes. The concept of skin ageing conditioned by genetics is constantly being confirmed by research. It seems that there are over 1500 genes involved in the process of skin ageing that influence in different aspects, such as antioxidant potential, the ability to protect against sun damage, elasticity, degree of hydration or texture.
Genes produce the expression or suppression of structural proteins or a major enzymatic action on the skin quality and structure.
Products used in Genocosmetics are genic acting creams aimed at influencing the genetic alterations that are induced in the cell nucleus due to the action of external or internal factors.
