Laser Assisted Facial Contouring

The signs of facial ageing originate from the changes that take place over the years in the midface and lower face regions: displacement, redistribution and descent of subcutaneous fat, contributing to the collapse of the philtrum, marionette lines and sunken cheeks.

Laser Assisted Facial Contouring and Lipo Augmentation Facial Contouring, are techniques performed at IML, which respectively, eliminate the fat that deforms the face and replenish lost volumes.

Laser Assisted Facial Contouring (LAFC I)

What it is:

Facial contouring assisted by laser techniques.

Purpose:

Extraction of the fat that deforms the facial structures, resulting in pronounced philtrumlabiomental folds and sagging cheeks.

Description of the technique:

  • It is performed using the Lipolaser® technique, with dual SlimLipo Aspire laser that emits at 924 nm and 975 nm.
  • The technique is performed under local anaesthesia.
  • A fine and flexible cannula with an optical fibre on the end, which emits the laser energy is inserted through a tiny incision. It comes into contact with the fat tissue, heating and eliminating it, while skin contraction takes place.
  • Since laser energy is selective, it respects the adjacent structures and eliminates only the excess fat.
  • The coagulating effect of the laser prevents bruising and swelling.

Post-treatment:

The recovery period following the procedure is very short. The incision is tiny, so scarring is reduced to a minimum.

Results:

The skin in the treated area becomes redefined and firmer. The nasogenian folds as well as the sagging on either side of the chin are reduced. The result is natural and balanced.

Lipo Augmentation Facial Contouring (LAFC II)

What it is:

The extraction and subsequent implanting of autologous fat enriched with growth factors.

Purpose:

Restore facial volume that deteriorates over the years on cheeks, malar region and jawline.

Description of the technique:

  1. Donor fat extraction. Lipoaspiration of the fatty material for the graft is performed. Wherever possible, the fat is extracted from the abdomen or hips, since the fat tissue in these areas is rich in mesenchymal stem cells.
  2. Patient blood extraction. The growth factors are extracted from the blood, which will allow for better vascularisation of the implanted fat and ingraining in the recipient region.
  3. The growth factors are blended with the donor fat tissue.
  4. A lipograft is performed through an incision, where a cannula is inserted to deposit the fat at different depths.

Post-treatment:

The inflammatory stage lasts for approximately 3 days.

Results:

Natural, both in texture and appearance. Although results are immediately visible, the definitive outcome should be evaluated 6 months after the procedure.
