Lunch Time Treatment
Lunch Time Treatment
Today, more than ever, the natural look is “in” and large surgical procedures are falling into disuse. We all want a younger, more spontaneous look that does not alter our facial expression and with no recovery periods or downtime. This has caused an increased demand for treatments that improve the quality and the appearance of the skin without having to undergo surgery.
The new generation of treatments provide a substantial improvement of the signs of ageing, with a low risk of complications, no anaesthesia and, the most important, without a convalescence period. “This allows the patient to resume his or her daily activities in no time” stated Dra Josefina Royo, assistant director at Instituto Médico Láser. The so called “lunch time treatments” are becoming increasingly popular due to the natural results they achieve and fresh and radiant effect they have on the skin.
Aging
The skin’s general appearance in the aging process are mainly related to the quantitative aspects of sun light but the skin’s appearance is also affected by genetic and hormonal changes (such as menopause), inadequate nutrition, toxic consumption (alcohol or tobacco) and the natural ageing process associated to age.
Clinically, skin aging is characterised by a rough skin surface, with increased pore size, pigmentary and vascular changes, and with a distinctive decrease in the number and function of collagen and elastine fibres. Moreover, the repeated contraction of certain muscles leave their trace in the form of wrinkles in certain facial areas.
Nowadays, the best solution is the combination of the following techniques:
- Expression lines treatment
- Facial mesotherapy with hyaluronic acid.
- Application of intense pulsed light (IPL).
Expression lines treatment
Is indicated in the temporary treatment of expression lines of the upper third of the face: crows feet, lines between the eyebrows, forehead lines, etc. Also achieves a slight elevation of the tip of the brow, thereby improving eye expression.
The treatment time is approximately 20 minutes. The results are visible after 24 to 48 hours and the final total look is evident after two weeks. Treatment duration varies between four to six months. If required, re-treatment is possible after three months because the repeated application of the substance prolongs its effect in time so that wrinkles are progressively reduced.
Facial mesotherapy with hyaluronic acid
Treatment consists in small infiltrations of hyaluronic acid into the dermis using a fine needle. Infiltrations can be administered in the face, neck and cleavage. Mesotherapy is a very safe, rapid and simple technique that returns the skin its natural hydration, luminosity and smoothness.
Hyaluronic acid is responsible for tissue compactibility, with the capacity of collecting a large amount of water around it, thus maintaining adequate skin hydration and restoring its turgence, evident characteristics of youth. In parallel with this hydrating and re-structuring action, hyaluronic acid has been shown to be very effective to protect against free radicals.
The number of sessions depends on the skin conditions and the response to treatment, but in general terms, about 2 to 3 sessions are needed every 3 to 4 weeks and some maintenance session thereafter usually scheduled for three months after the first session.
Intense pulsed light
IPL decreases wrinkles, closes pores and provides luminosity, improving skin texture and smoothness. It also fragments melanin, giving the skin a homogenous even look.
The number of sessions varies, depending on the skin condition, but about 5 to 6 are usually sufficient to achieve the desired results. The time interval between treatment sessions is also variable, but normally sessions are performed at 3 to 4 week intervals. Each session lasts approximately 20 minutes and the patient can resume his or her daily activities without delay after the treatment.
