Breast reductionThe entire or part of the inferior mammary pole is resected to reduce the size of the breast. A wedge resection is performed, leaving two lateral pillars that will conform a smaller sized breast. These lateral pillars are anchored to the pectoral muscle with inter-crossed fixed stitches and the areola simultaneously elevated to the right position.

The design of the incisions depends on the amount of correction wanted: periareolar, Arie-pitangy, De Longys, Strombercks…

Prior to surgery, the doctor discusses with the patient the amount of breast volume she wants to keep and informs her of the location of the incisions that will be performed.
